Military spouses often face greater unemployment than their civilian counterparts. In 2019, they had a 26% wage gap and 22% unemployment rate. This year, unemployment is expected to be as high as 35%. That is why so many are turning to entrepreneurship. Out of the more than 12 million military spouses in the united states, 48% are self-employed, business owners, or aspire to be, according to the Military Spouse Chamber of Commerce.
