President Biden said Thursday he spoke to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) after the Republican leader froze during a press conference for the second time since late July.
"I spoke to him today, and he was his old self on the telephone," the president said while visiting FEMA headquarters in Washington, DC.
"It's not at all unusual to have a response that sometimes happens to Mitch when you've had a severe concussion. It's part of the recovery, and so I'm confident he's going to be back to his old self."
President Biden added that he doesn't have any concerns about the 81-year-old senator's ability to do his job.
Sen. McConnell suffered a concussion and broken ribs after a fall earlier this year at a private function, keeping him away from the Capitol for six weeks.
