Tonight, the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) lit the “Field of Flags” art display on the National Mall. The PIC will illuminate 56 pillars of light, which will take approximately 46 seconds, ahead of the inauguration of the 46th President of the United States: Joseph R. Biden, Jr.
These pillars represent all 50 states and U.S. territories and are part of an extensive public art display put in place for the inauguration that will include nearly 200,000 flags also representing every state and territory. The “Field of Flags” represents the American people who are unable to travel to Washington and reflect the PIC’s commitment to an inclusive and safe event that everyone can enjoy from their home.
