Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) asked Sec. of State Antony Blinken, "can you guarantee us that no taxpayer money, no U.S. taxpayer money, went to fund the attack that Hamas delivered on October 7th?" The senator continued to discuss internal 2021 State Department documents obtained by a FOIA request that discussed concerns of Hamas diverting foreign aid to Gaza. Secretary Blinken did not fully confirm no taxpayer money has ever gone to Hamas but said, he can guarantee that they take "every possible precaution to make sure these resources are not diverted" and continued to say they have a "robust" monitoring and inspection system in place to make sure the assistance is going where intended.
