Washington Today (5-11-23): House passes immigration bill on party lines as Title 42 expires

Just hours until Title 42 authority expires that had denied migrants on the southern border entry to prevent spread of COVID-19, and at least 10,000 migrant per days are expected to try to cross, the U.S. House passes a Republican immigration and border security bill, mostly along party lines, and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says the Biden Administration is ready and has been preparing for this moment for some time.

Congressional leaders of both parties reacting to 2024 republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's town hall meeting on CNN Wednesday night, in which he suggested the U.S. could default on its debt without serious consequences and repeated the lie that he won the 2020 presidential election.
