Supreme Court guts Voting Rights Act

In a 6-3 split, the Supreme Court threw out a Louisiana congressional map that added a second majority-Black district following the 2020 census. In the majority opinion, Justice Samuel Alito wrote that it was an "unconstitutional racial gerrymander" and reinterpreted Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.
