State Republicans just redrew the lines in Tennessee, carving up majority-Black Memphis into three different districts, and giving the GOP a massive advantage. Civil rights organizations, including the ACLU and NAACP, have filed lawsuits against the maps, saying they undermine fair representation.
One immediate casualty of this map fight includes longtime Democratic Congressman Steve Cohen announcing he is bowing out after nearly two decades in office, accusing state Republicans of essentially 'colonizing Memphis.'
Rep. Cohen joins “The Weekend: Primetime” to explain his reasons for not seeking re-election, his concerns for Memphis voters, and airs his frustrations over the Supreme Court’s ruling that gutted the Voting Rights Act.
