Enten: Trump’s 2nd term saw 40x more govt. shutdown time than other presidents

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten notes that the federal government has been at least partially shut down for 20% of President Trump's second term, 40 times the average of all other presidents since 1981.

Meanwhile, the GOP plan to end the partial shutdown "seems to be acceptable" according to a White House official. Republican lawmakers emerged from a White House meeting on Monday night with a plan to fund DHS — all except a small portion of the immigration enforcement budget, in a concession to Democrats. Then, once that’s passed, Republicans plan to muscle through a partisan bill without Democratic votes to fund the rest of the ICE budget.
