Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) spoke to reporters about the House speaker election following a presumed 2nd ballot loss by Republican nominee Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH). When asked about granting additional powers to the speaker pro tempore in order to proceed with the business of the House, he said "it makes no sense" to grant someone the full powers of the speaker of the House without having a speaker in place.
