Washington Today (10-31-23): Secs. Blinken & Austin make case for one vote on aid to Israel/ Ukraine

Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin before the Senate Appropriations Committee defend the Biden Administration's $100 billion dollar emergency aid request for Israel, Ukraine, Indo-Pacific and U.S. border security.

New House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) pushes ahead with a plan to vote on a stand alone bill with only aid to Israel, and to have that money offset by cuts to IRS funding, something Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) again rejected today.

Senate confirms former Treasury Secretary Jack Lew to be the next U.S. Ambassador to Israel by a vote 53-43.
