Supreme Court says colleges and universities cannot consider race in student admissions,
ruling 6-3 that the admissions programs at Harvard and the University of North Carolina that used race as one factor among many violates equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.
We will hear from Edward Blum, leader of Students for Fair Admissions, which brought the case, and President Biden, who says "the court once again walked away from decades of precedent.”
President Biden is also proposing a new standard where colleges "take into account the adversity a student has overcome when selecting among qualified applicants." Adversity could include racial discrimination.
We will also talk about this decision – including the political ramifications – with Washington Times Politics Editor Stephen Dinan. He will also weigh in on a second Supreme Court decision today, a unanimous victory for a Christian U.S. Postal Service worker who requested to not work on Sundays.
