The Final countdown for the Return of the Street Fighters begins now!
There is just one week to go before Formula 1 returns to the streets of Baku for the FORMULA 1 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX 2022. Taking place next weekend (10th-12th June), The Home of the Street Fighters is ready to welcome fans back to Baku City Circuit for what is set to be one of the most exciting races of the F1 season.
For the first time since 2019, fans will be in the grandstands cheering on their favourite teams, making this visit from the pinnacle of motorsport even more special.
Known as the most unpredictable track on the F1 calendar, Baku City Circuit guarantees high-speed, adrenaline-fuelled action year after year and has consistently been home to some of the most spectacular and dramatic moments in recent memory: From Ricciardo’s incredible Turn 1 triple overtake that paved the way for his famous 2017 victory to Verstappen’s shocking tyre blowout and Lewis Hamilton’s subsequent costly mistake at the restart in 2021.
The stunning 6km long, 20-Turn circuit consistently puts the best drivers in the world to the test, proving unforgiving to the smallest mistakes as they navigate around the winding, narrow streets of Azerbaijan’s stunning capital city.
Home to a 2km long straight, the longest on the calendar, where cars have previously reached speeds of 366km/h, as well as the sport’s narrowest section by the Old Town Walls, Baku City Circuit has quickly established itself as a fan-favourite that simply can’t be missed.
This year, the track action starts on Friday with the first two Practice Sessions giving drivers the opportunity to remind themselves of the challenges of Baku City Circuit before embarking on the final Practice session on Saturday morning.
Drivers will go head-to-head at full speed in the knockout Qualifying session on Saturday afternoon that will determine the starting grid for the final race. Then it’s lights out Sunday afternoon when fans will be treated to another exhilarating race.
Will beautiful Baku see a sixth different winner in six races? Or will the Home of the Street Fighters celebrate the first time a driver has won here for the second time? Last season’s surprise victor – and recent Monaco GP winner – Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez will certainly be hoping to write his name in the history books with a second successive victory in Azerbaijan.
The return of fans means that this year there is even more to the weekend than the adrenaline-charged racing taking place on track. On Thursday, 3-day ticketholders will be able to take part in the Pitlane Walk whilst the ever-popular Autograph Sessions return on Saturday, where fans will be able to meet their favourite F1 superstars and get a selfie!
Throughout the weekend, visitors will be able to explore the Fanzones along the stunning seaside boulevard and enjoy an extensive entertainment schedule across the three days of the FORMULA 1 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX 2022. The Fanzone is set to be packed with activities for all the family to enjoy and there will also be live music and entertainment throughout the weekend guaranteeing a full festival experience for all visitors.
The FORMULA 1 AZERBAIJAN GRAND PRIX 2022 is ready to deliver another spectacular battle on the streets of Baku. Tickets are selling fast and some of the best spots to watch the action have already sold out! Act quickly to secure your ticket for the Return of the Street Fighters.
